And so in just two weeks we will be going to Lads to leaders and all these girls. Three weeks. That's two and a half weeks now, right? We'll leave two weeks from tomorrow. [00:00:52] Speaker C: That's right. [00:00:53] Speaker B: They're keeping me straight. So we will be heading to Nashville to the convention and they will to present the things they worked really hard on. So tonight you've got girls from 4 years old up to 9th grade and next week you'll have another group and half of the next class you'll have another group. Because we have so many now, we had to expand to a half of another class. Just to put it in perspective how many people that we have going to lapsel years now. I teach the preschool through second grade speech. We had over 30 registered. That's a lot of little tiny kids doing teaching lessons and so think about that. We had over 400 people registered for the convention, so that's really amazing. So you're in for a treat tonight. Some of them are going to be singing, some are going to be teaching us lessons and some are going to be doing both. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us this opportunity to come together in the middle of the week to re energize, to lean on each other, to connect and to encourage each other. Thank you for each of these young ladies that are here tonight to teach us and to lead us and to show us that everyone has something to share about your gospel, regardless of the age. Help us give them our attention, help us give them our support and help us learn from them tonight. Please be with each of them and calm their nerves and help them do the wonderful job that, you know, they've been practicing to do. God. We especially bring before you tonight our plea to be with our Our dear sister Christy. Please be with her as she goes through the questions and the meetings with the doctors over the next week or two, getting her treatment plan in place. And as she dives right into that, please give her strength, strength. Please heal her body. Please give her family strength. Jay and Quinn and Bethany and her sweet mama, Miss Hilda. Please be with all of them and please help us be an encouragement and a strength to her. Thank you so much for this family of ladies here. Thank you most of all for sending your son to die on the cross to save us from our sins. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. [00:03:11] Speaker A: Today we'll be singing Today. Today I'll be learning about Noah. What Vengeance Beach My name is Eliza Clayton and I love going to the zoo. My most favorite animal at the zoo is the giraffes. They have long necks and cute little ears. The zoo reminds me of the Bible's lesson of Noah. Noah built in a big boat. Holding on, he put his family on the boat and the animals on the boat, two by two. Then a big flood came. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights. Then God's rainbow to promise that he will never flood the earth again. From Genesis 50, verse 20. Even though when things are really hard, it still works out for good. [00:04:13] Speaker C: If the stars above you are great, you are feeling so blue if your cares and burdens seem great all the whole day through There's a silver light that shines in the heavenly land look by faith and see my friend Trust in his promises Friend sing and he'll be happy to let him rest along to the till the door shall trust in him Sing and be happy Today are what I can see when my Lord is living in me I know that Jesus is well and alive today he makes his own in my heart Nevermore will I be all alone since he promise me that he never would fall. [00:06:19] Speaker A: I like to go fishing. I've caught all sizes of fish. Some teeny tiny and some big enough to eat today. I'm talking about a really big fish. One that is even bigger than my daddy. No, it's not one I caught. In fact, this fish caught someone. That one is Jonah. Jonah disobeyed God. But God had plans. God told Jonah to go to Ninvah. But Jonah refused and went away from Ninpah. Then there was a storm. Spiderman threw him overboard into the sea. Jonah got swallowed by a big fish. No one could catch it. Jonah stayed in there for three days and three nights. Then the big fish threw Jonah up on the opposite side of Nineveh. Jonah did what God told him to do. I hope he took bath first, though the nine bites followed God even though it was smelly and gross. God meant the fish for Jonah's good and used that fish to teach Joah a lesson that he should obey God no matter what. Sometimes God uses consequences to teach us lessons. We might not get swallowed by a fish when we disobey, but God can use other consequences for our good. So even when you find yourself in a sticky, icky situation like Jonah, just know that God is with you and is working for your good. So let him and choose God's way. Although if you continue disobeying God, you might want to stay away for a boat for a while. [00:08:10] Speaker C: O God, you are my God and I will ever praise you. O God, you are my God and I will ever praise you. I will see you in the morning and I will learn to walk in your way Stand step by step you'll lead me and I will follow you all of my days and I will follow you all of my days and I will follow you all all of my days and step by step you'll lead me and I will follow you all of my days God is so good God is so good he's so good to me he answers, pray he answers, pray he answers, pray he so good to me we will glorify the Lord of Lords who is the great I am. Hallelujah to the King of Kings Alleluia to the lamb Hallelujah to the Lord of Lords who is the great I am. [00:11:08] Speaker A: Do you know about the natural disasters that have been happening across the country in the past year? In the fall, Hurricane Elaine hit Florida's Gulf Coast. The damage not stopped there, though. The storm traveled up the eastern side of the United States, dumping huge amounts of water in several states. North Carolina was one of the states that was flooded the most, with waters reaching a record high of almost 25ft. Thousands of people lost their possessions and homes. Some even lost their lives. It'd be really easy to only see all of the bad things that have happened to to the hurricane victims in North Carolina. But thankfully, the story does not end there. In November, a group of volunteers gathered up food, tools, and other supplies to help clean up the mess from the flood. They volunteered their time and efforts to help bring hope to the people who really need something positive to happen today. This story makes me think about the sacrifice Jesus made for all of us. Jesus having to come live on Earth. He faced all the temptations that sank right in front of him but managed to live a totally sin free life. He spent his time on earth teaching about God, performing miracles and showing how to love others. Even though Jesus was perfect, something terrible has happened to him. The people he came to save and some of his closest friends betrayed him. Judas, one of Jesus apostles turned Jesus into the government even though he did nothing wrong. Jesus had to go to court and was mocked and given a carnal Florence. He was drugged through the streets while the people of James Said spat on him, hit him and yelled many things at him. Finally they nailed his hands and feet to a cross and left him to die. Jesus was the only man to never do anything wrong with. The people chose to crucify him over a well known faith. God knew all of this would happen before he sent Jesus to earth to bring about good. First Peter 3:18 says, Christ Himself suffered for you. Christ himself suffered when he died for you. And when that and with that one death he paid for your sins. He was not guilty, but paid for the people who are guilty. He did this to bring all of you to God in his physical form. He was killed, but he was made alive by the Spirit. This verse explains that Jesus chose to suffer a cruel death so that we could be saved. Genesis 50:20 says it is Jew planned to do something bad to me, but really God was planning good things. God's plan was to use me to save the lives of many people. And that is what happened. Even though this verse is actually something Joseph said to his brothers when they came to Egypt asking for forgiveness, it is also a scripture that points forward to Jesus life and death. Although evil had won at Jesus crucifixion, God already had his plan in place. God used Jesus death to give every person an opportunity one day to go to heaven. One day. Kind of like the volunteers in North Carolina gave hope to a brighter future to the hurricane victims. Jesus gave it all. Jesus gave us all hope and chance to spend eternity with Him. Maybe you're in the middle of one of life's storms. While it is not always easy, we can look to God and trust him to get us through the tough times. God sees the whole big picture of our lives and he can use our storm to bring it back light. What good do you think God has planned for you once the storm is over? Thank you. [00:15:03] Speaker C: Close to thy heart in that day still near While life shall last till safe in glory My anchor is cast through endless age day you're still nearer. [00:17:23] Speaker A: Enemies. An enemy is defined as an adversary or an opponent. Whether you have an enemy in Your physical life, such as a rival football team, a spelling bee opponent, or that one king in a class who's really good at code sweep. You always have an enemy in your spiritual life. Satan. And today we will be talking about him. John 8:44 says that Satan is a murderer, a liar and the father of all lies. In Genesis 3 we see him tempting Eve and bringing sin into the world. That sin brought death, pain and suffering. Satan also took the some very great men to do some very, very bad things. King David committed adultery and murder. King Solomon totally turned himself away from God. And Jonah refused to go preach to the lost people. Imagine that Satan even tried to stop Jesus. He caught King Herod to kill all the baby boys in Bethlehem to try to kill Jesus as a baby. In Matthew 4 and Luke 4 we see Satan did Jesus at the beginning of his ministry. But no matter what Satan did, Jesus never sinned. Hebrews 4:15 tells us that Jesus was in awfully intended as weird, yet without sin. Satan even had Jesus killed. When Jesus was nailed to his cross, I'm sure Satan thought he had won, but God took Satan's evil and used it instead. You see, Jesus death on the cross paid for our sins. Romans 5:8 says that God proved his love for us by Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. First Peter 2, 24 says that Jesus bore our sins on his own body on that tree. That we who had died to sin might live for righteousness by whose strips you were healed. Jesus resurrection was the ultimate victory over Satan. Romans 1:4,6 says Jesus was declared to be the son of God forever by the resurrection. First Peter 1:3, 4 says, God has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled that does not fade away reserved and heavy for you. Jesus was victorious over Satan and because of the resurrection we can have victory as well. We have the forgiveness of sins because of the resurrection. First Corinthians 15:1 4 tells us we are saved by the death, the burial and the resurrection as well of Jesus. First Peter 3, 21 tells us we receive that forgiveness through the resurrection when we are baptized. First John 15:10 even tells us that we have to continual forgiveness as we walk in the light through the blood of Jesus. Those are God. We are getting our lives to keep us from sin. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says that God always provides a way out to keep us from sin. And lastly we have the promise of an eternal home in heaven. Jude 24 says he is able to keep us from suffering and can bring us to a home in heaven. John 10, 27:30 says that no one can take us away from God's everlasting hand. Never forget that no matter how things look in this world, Satan will always ultimately lose. God can always take what Satan means with evil and use it for good. [00:20:55] Speaker C: Washes wider than snow Faithful love prompt each year reaches down dries each year Holds my hand when I can't stand on my own Came to earth to show the Father, Son and Amen Face to face and Jesus is His name Faithful love is a friend Just when hope seems to end welcome face sweet embrace Tender touch filled with grace Faithful love endless power living flame Spirit fire burning bright in the night Guiding my way Faithful love Came to earth to show the Father's love and faithful love face to face and Jesus is His. [00:23:15] Speaker A: Name. [00:24:29] Speaker C: And the soul Never. [00:25:07] Speaker A: Have you ever had to wait on something upload to come out, a new video to drop, or even your Amazon package. At one point you might not think it's going to come. It's frustrating seeing your package has been delayed, but if you've done your part to make it happen, eventually your patience is rewarded with something that you wanted. Think about a flower that needs time to grow. It starts off with a tiny little seed buried under the ground. You can't even see it until it starts to sprout. And even when you see buds, you still have to wait a little longer before you see a beautiful flower. We don't always get what we want when we want it, but the steps we take to get what we want are eventually meant for good. There are three people in the Bible that argument when it comes to waiting for something good. The first one is a man named Abraham. Abraham lived with his family when God called him to move to the new land. God promised Abraham children, but he didn't wait until that promise was fulfilled. God promised Abraham children, but Abraham had to wait until that promised was fulfilled. Abraham thoughtful promise was never going to be delivered. But a promise delay is not a promise denied. Just like we usually give a Pope when an Amazon package is delayed, Abraham shows us that a delayed promise to be used by God to meant for good. The second person I think of is Jacob. Jacob tricked his father into giving him his brother his brother's birthright and then went away to another land and met a girl named Rachel. He loved Rachel and wanted to marry her, but this time it was Jacob who got tricked. Instead of Rachel, Laban gave him her sister Leah then made him work another seven years for Rachel. During this time period, Jacob learned hard work and responsibilities which were good things to Jacob's horn and and that he passed down to his own children. The way he carried it was not fun, but it was meant for good. The third person I think of is Jonas. God caused him to go preach in his book, but Jonas didn't want to go. Jonah tried to run away, but then ended up in the belly of a big fish. In the belly of a big fish. He learnt not to. While he waited in the fish's belly, he didn't hear about God's work, not his. Through prayer and waiting, he learned to put others first. God has a sign for good because he learned humility through waiting. Sometimes waiting is worth it because of the end you have something beautiful. Abraham learns patience. Should have learned hard work and responsibility and done unlearned humility. These are beautiful features of God. And the more we wait on God, the more we can take on his character. When we tend to a flower and wait for the bloom, we have the reward of having something beautiful. And the wait might make us appreciate it more if we didn't have to work hard and wait patiently. Joseph says in Genesis 50, verse 20 to his brothers in response to their coming in Egypt. After a long time they sold them in slavery. After you commit evil vanity begotten to bring about that many people should be kept alive as they are today. Isaiah 40:31 says, but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount cliff with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. When we wait, we learn important things that God wants us to know. And the more we wait and grow, we can see that God makes it for good. Have you ever gone through something that was really hard and wonder why it was happening? Last year I became the only house and city that I'd ever lived in. We left family, friends and a church family that I loved. While we were happy to move closer to friends and family in the new city, I was scared, sad and unsure of the future. Things did not seem to make sense. But my parents that God assumes me and things would work out for the day. It was hard to believe that though when I was sad and missing my home. Today I want to share with you three examples from the Bible of people who had to go through really hard circumstances. And even though it probably didn't make sense at times, God is working it out for their good. The perfect example is the story of Joseph found in The Book of Genesis. Joseph's brothers were jealous of him because he was a faith child. Not only this, but their father had given him a special coat of many colors. Joseph also had been shared his dreams about his brothers dying downtown. Genesis 37:8 said that Joseph's brothers hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. Later in the chapter, we see that Joseph's brothers throw him into his hips and decide to get rid of their pesky little brother by selling them to the Midianites for 20 shekels of silver. Can you imagine? As much as I might get frustrated with my little brother, I could never imagine selling them the first slavery. But God rebuked Joseph. This evil plan that Joseph's brothers had come up with. God refused to send Joseph to Egypt, which would ultimately benefit not only Joseph and his family, but the entire Israelite nation. Joseph's brothers ministered evil to God, meant it for good. Another example of God using a mammoth for evil for good is the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. In Daniel, we see that the evidence King Nebuchadnezzar built an enormous gold statue and ordered everyone in the kingdom to worship it. When Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego was used, Nebuchadnezzar was infuriated and had them sent to a fiery furnace. Not only this, but he ordered that it seven times its usual temperature. But God was with Shadrach and Meshach and Abednego. And the Bible says not a hair in her heads had been singed, nor were no garments altered. There was nothing, even a smell of fire about them. As a result, Nebuchadnezzar actually praises God. Daniel 3. 28 says, Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. The king actually promotes Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Nebuchadnezzar meant it for evil, but God meant it for good. The ultimate example of God using a mammon for evil for good is found in the New Testament. What could be more wicked than a plot to destroy the only perfect person that ever lived? What could be more evil than crucifying the very Son of God? In the Gospels we see that the Jews did just that. They hated Jesus and they plotted to have him killed. It seemed like evil had won when Jesus was arrested, brutally beaten and hung on the cross to die. However, we see in John 20 that Jesus was resurrected from the grave on the third day after his crucifixion. Crucifixion, defeating death, and giving eternal life to all who will follow him. First Corinthians 15:57 says, but thanks be to God who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. The Jews meant it for evil, but God meant it for good. As I told you earlier, this last year has been really hard with the move. But even though I still miss my old home, God has blessed me in my new home. I have enjoyed getting involved in many new activities like like a book club with my homeschool friends, a phone call up on Fridays, and hanging out with church friends. I even have my own room now, which is nice. It is good to be reminded throughout reading my Bible that just like Joseph said in Genesis 50:20 and everything that I have gone through this year, God makes it for good. Thank you. [00:32:38] Speaker C: This world is not my home I'm just a passing through My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue the angels beckon me from heaven's open door and I can't feel at home in this world anymore oh Lord, I have no friend like you if heaven's not my home then Lord, what will I do? The angels beckon me from heaven's open door and I can't feel at home in this world anymore Just up in glory land we'll live eternally the saints on every hand are shouting victory Their song of sweetest praises Back from heaven sh and I can't feel at home in this world anymore oh Lord, you know I have no friend like you if heavens are my home then Lord, what will I do? The angels beckon me from heaven's open door and I can't feel at home in this world anymore. [00:34:23] Speaker A: Imagine finding out that next year your new teacher is your mom. Your mom with her claw clip, belt, bag and Stanley cup in hand and field trips will just be walking across the kitchen to the to the kitchen to whip up a little snack. This sounds miserable, right? This is exactly what I pictured when I first heard my parents discussing the possibility of homeschool. I thought, this is not going to be good. My homeschool situation reminds me a lot of a man named Noah. In Genesis chapter six, God called Noah to build a very large boat. An ark. God said he was going to send rain to flood the earth. Rain? Noah had never seen rain. It had never rained before. I wonder if he feared the unknown. Kind of like me. The people were mocking him and questioning him as he was putting his faith in God. I know what that is like. People at my school last year questioned me. They kept saying things like, do you want? I started to get a little nervous. I didn't know what homeschooling was going to be like, but I had to start believing that God had a plan for me. At school, I was surrounded by kids using bad words, disrespecting classmates and kids who were not godly influences. Sounds a lot like the people who lived around Noah. But God was with Noah and took something scary and unknown like a flood and used it to give the world a fresh start. God meant it for good. There was also a boy in the book of Genesis named Joseph. Lots of crazy stuff happened to him. His brothers were jealous and hated him. They threw him in a pit just to turn around and sell him strangers. He was taken to a new land, put in charge of an Egyptian household, lied about, sent to jail, brought out of jail to interpret dreams, and then was made second in command to Pharaoh. I bet he never expected any of that. He hadn't been scared or confused by what was happening to him, but he trusted, obeyed, and overcame something hard while God was creating something good the whole time. You see, Joseph's brothers meant for tragedy to come to Joseph. They wanted him to die. But God's plan all along was for Joseph to save his brothers and many others from tragedy. Joseph tells his brothers in Genesis 50:20, as for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result to keep many people alive. So therefore, do not be afraid. When I first thought about homeschooling, I couldn't think of anything good about it. I kind of pictured it like that pit Joseph was thrown in or that Egyptian jail cell. Stuck at home with no one to talk to or hang out with. Instead, homeschool has given me a lot of really cool opportunities. Both of my great grandmothers help out in with a ministry at my church called Comfort and Kindness. This ministry helps local nursing homes, hospitals, and foreign missions. Now my great grandmothers can teach me new skills like learning how to sew clothing for children in Africa or helping me use my creativity to create decorations for nursing homes. I am so thankful for the extra time I get to spend at dinner. I also get to spend my Fridays with a group of homeschool friends. We call it Fun Friday. We do a Bible study, spend time in God's creation, create service projects, and learn by doing other fun activities. These people are such great influences for me and I really enjoy getting to spend time with them too. Looking back at my fears about homeschool, I wish I'd first thought of this verse from Jeremiah 29:11 for I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans for prosperity and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope. At first I immediately saw all the negatives in my mind instead of trusting my parents instincts and God's overall plan for me. That reminds me of another verse, Romans 8:28 and we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those that love God to those who are called according to his purpose. So how can we remember to see the good God is working in our lives? Let's take the word good G have a godly attitude O Optimism is the key. O don't overlook the little things God is doing and D decide to trust in God's plan. I have actually been on some pretty fun field trips this year and not just to my kitchen. And don't worry, having my mom for a teacher ended up not being so bad after all. Seeing the good has defined definitely helps me to have a stronger faith and God's big plan for my life. And I hope it can help you too. Thank you. Today we will be singing kids so sweet and trust in Jesus first and last verse. [00:39:15] Speaker C: Take him at his word Just to rest upon his promise Just to know the sin of Lord Jesus Jesus how I trust Him How I prove him Jesus Jesus precious Jesus oh for grace to trust him more I'm so glad I learned to trust Jesus sa friends and and I know that Thou art with me will be with me to the end Jesus Jesus how I trust Him How I PR Jesus Jesus precious Jesus O Lord, grace to trust him more. [00:40:44] Speaker D: 4:00Am January 23, 2012 An EF3 tornado ripped through my hometown. The tornado was unexpected and many people, including my parents, never heard the sirens warning them to take cover. Thankfully, my mom woke up moments before the tornado hit our house and her and my dad jumped in the bathtub seconds before total destruction hit. As my parents walked out of the bathroom, they looked up to see the sky where our roof had been and a pink wall where my nursery had been. Where I should have been. Romans 8:28 and we know that in all things God works for the good. Those who love him who have been called according to his purpose. You see, my mom was supposed to take my dad to the airport early that morning, so they had left me at my grandmother's house the night before. They had no idea that this decision would likely save my life. But God knew God meant it for good. It's sometimes easy to feel like our circumstances are hopeless and it can be difficult to see anything good coming from things that we face, like anxiety, bullying, heartbreak, broken friendships, and family conflicts. Let's look at the life of Joseph and be encouraged by God taking something that was meant for evil and using it for good. God used betrayal for good. Have you ever felt betrayed? Maybe your best friend told a secret about you? Maybe a group of your friends planned an event and didn't invite you. Maybe it was even a family member who hurt you? In Genesis 37, Joseph experienced the ultimate betrayal when his brothers devised a plan to get rid of him. They captured him, sold him into slavery, and allowed their father to believe he was dead. Can you imagine the pain of being betrayed by your own family? God, however, used this betrayal for good. You see, selling Joseph to the Midianites would take him to Egypt, where the Lord would help him gain favor. In Potiphar's eyes, in all things, God works for good. God used injustice for good. Have you ever been falsely accused? Maybe your friend or your sibling told something about you to get themselves out of trouble. Maybe a rumor has spread about you that just wasn't true. Joseph experienced this type of slander for doing what was right. In Genesis 39, we see that Potiphar's wife was attracted to Joseph and tried her best to get Joseph to lie with her. But after refusing her to the point where he literally ran from her presence, she falsely accused Joseph of trying to take advantage of her, causing Potiphar to become so angry that he threw Joseph in prison. But God used this injustice for good. God was with Joseph in prison, and Joseph was placed in charge of all the prisoners. This is where he met Pharaoh's butler and baker, who had also been thrown into jail. Joseph interpreted their dreams, which would eventually help him to be released from prison and placed in much higher authority. In all things, God works for good. God used famine for good. Have you ever experienced famine? That may seem like a strange question since you've likely had what you needed to eat. But you may have experienced famine in other ways. Maybe there was a famine in your friendships where you felt like you didn't have any true friends. Maybe there was a famine in your family relationships where you felt like you weren't as close to your family as you wanted to be. Maybe there was even a physical famine where you didn't think you had. You didn't feel like you had the things you needed. In Genesis 43, there was a famine in all of the lands except for Egypt. Pharaoh was having dreams and wanted to know what they meant. The butler remembered how God had interpreted his dream in prison and and told Pharaoh, who then called for Joseph to interpret his dream. Joseph revealed that God was showing Pharaoh there would be a famine in the land, and he instructed him on what he should do. Because of Joseph's guidance and God's favor upon Joseph, Pharaoh and the land of Egypt abounded in grain. This is the part of Joseph's story where we really see God's plan for his life coming true. He was placed in authority as Pharaoh's most trusted advisor, made governor of the land. His relationships with his brothers were healed. The Israelites were rescued from famine, and Joseph was reunited with his father. In all things, God works for good. In the last chapter of Genesis, we see the faith that Joseph had in God all along, summed up in verses 19 through 20. Jacob has died, and Joseph's brothers worry that Joseph will now want revenge on him for what they did to him. But Joseph responds, do not be afraid. Am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good. In order to accomplish a day like this, to preserve the lives of many people today, let me encourage you, whether you're facing a betrayal, an injustice, or a famine of sorts in your life, that God is working. He's working in the pain, the heartache, the loneliness, the conflict, the things that may have been meant for evil in your life, God means to use for good. [00:46:10] Speaker B: All right, ladies, I know we're running late. Thank you so much for your patience. They did amazing. If you ladies will hang up here for just a few minutes, let people come talk to you. Thank you very much. See you next week.
