Matthew bridges the gap between the testaments. Matthew wrote from the perspective of Old Testament prophecies to demonstrate New Testament fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Matthew is the first to mention the church by name. Matthew presents Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah and King.
