Scholars often call Deuteronomy the “Romans of the Old Testament” because of its foundational teachings on ethics, law, and grace. In this class, we will first explore how New Testament authors understood Deuteronomy—and the law as a whole—under the New Covenant. Then, we will turn our attention to understanding how Deuteronomy can help shape our worldview by studying the historical context, literary design, and wisdom of the book.
Today we are going to be analyzing the "witness" that God puts in place for the Old Covenant. We will analyze the song that God uses as the "witness", and see how the New Testament authors used and referenced the passage in their writings.
This class was recorded on Oct 21, 2026.
