One of the real challenges we face in life is becoming so comfortable with where we are spiritually that we begin to see our behaviors as the standard for righteousness. Our blindness to our own deficiencies can cause us to have a false sense of righteousness and to look down upon others, condemning them, as though God needed our help. In Romans 2, Paul uses his rhetorical skills to stun us into the reality that sin reveals itself in unexpected ways and that we are all in need of spiritual rescue.
